BURY ST. EDMUNDS — Police are appealing for information after a 14-year-old girl was assaulted in the town on June 7.

The girl, from Bury St. Edmunds, was walking outside Pizza Hut on Cornhill about 4 p.m. when she saw a man walking in the opposite direction and staring at her. She continued walking and noticed the man had begun following her, according to a Suffolk Constabulary news release.

The man approached the girl and grabbed her around the chest. He did not say anything and walked off. The girl called her mother to tell her about the incident before making her way to Bury St. Edmunds police station to report the incident, the release said.

The man is described as a white male in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet tall, with a skinny build, short brown hair, oval-shaped face with stubble on the chin, big yellow teeth and a distorted or deformed chin. He was wearing large, heavy-framed square glasses, a blue top, blue jeans and white lace-up athletic shoes. He is described as walking with a slight limp.

Police vehicle crashes while responding to an incidentIPSWICH — Authorities are looking for witnesses following a traffic collision involving a police vehicle and a private vehicle on June 13.

The collision happened about 10:10 p.m. at the junction of Landseer Road and Hogarth Road in Ipswich, according to a Suffolk Constabulary news release.

The police car was responding to an incident when it collided with a Skoda Felicia car.

The male driver of the Skoda and the two male police officers from the police car were taken to Ipswich Hospital to receive treatment for their injuries.

One police officer was released from the hospital after being treated for minor injuries. The driver of the Skoda and the driver of the police car remained in the hospital overnight for observations, the release said.

The matter now will be investigated by Suffolk Constabulary’s Professional Standards Department.
