Rear Adm. Joseph A. Walsh will succeed Rear Adm. Jeffrey B. Cassias as commander of the Hawaii-based Submarine Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, the Navy announced last week.

No date was announced for the change of command. Walsh currently is director of the Submarine Warfare Division, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, in Washington, D.C.

The sub force commander advises Pacific Fleet on all submarine matters and controls attack, ballistic missile and auxiliary submarines, submarine tenders, floating submarine dry docks, deep submergence vehicles and submarine rescue vehicles, according to the command’s Web site.
