Court-martial begins for assault chargesCAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea — A soldier went on trial Monday on charges stemming in part from a set of episodes in which she and her soldier boyfriend allegedly assaulted fellow soldiers.

Pfc. Kellyene A. John of Detachment B, 516th Personnel Services Battalion, is charged with assault (four counts), drunk and disorderly conduct (two counts), making a false official statement, resisting arrest, disobeying an officer, disrespecting a noncommissioned officer and disobeying a noncommissioned officer.

John is on trial before a seven- member jury of Army officers and noncommissioned officers. The military judge is Army Col. Patrick J. Parrish, chief judge of the 6th Judicial Circuit.

George Williams Jr. of the 520th Maintenance Company faces charges of assault (three counts), drunk and disorderly conduct, disobeying a noncommissioned officer and resisting arrest, the Army said.
