STUTTGART, Germany — A power outage blackened Kelley Barracks in Stuttgart-Moehringen for 30 minutes Wednesday morning.

The barracks is home to Army Garrison Stuttgart headquarters and various offices and military housing. Jennifer Sanders, a garrison spokeswoman, said the outage had negligible effect on operations at Kelley.

Keith Freeman, network operations chief for the 52nd Signal Battalion, said the barracks’ “critical systems remained operational due to backup power.”

A spokesman for EnBW, the region’s electric supplier, said that one of its 10,000-volt cables malfunctioned, causing the blackout.

NATO hospital team leaves PakistanAfter treating more than 5,000 patients and delivering 11 babies, the NATO Military Relief Hospital is on its way back from an earthquake aid mission to Pakistan.

The hospital team — made up of doctors, nurses and support staff from the Netherlands, Czech Republic, France, Portugal and the United Kingdom — was in the zone for 10 weeks, officials said.

U.S. medical teams, including the Germany-based 212th Mobile Army Surgical Hospital, continue to operate in the region.
