Kaiserslautern will host its first Christopher Street Day celebration on Saturday from 1:30 to 10 p.m.

The event will begin with a prayer service at Stiftskirche, followed by a procession through the city center and a stage show at Schillerplatz, according to a statement from the city.

Christopher Street Day events are held across Europe to honor the legacy of the 1969 Stonewall riots in New York City, a landmark moment in the LGBTQ+ rights movement.

Local police will be present to ensure safety and manage traffic disruptions.
