1. FC Kaiserslautern got an easy win Sunday, defeating RSV Eintracht in Potsdam 7-0 in the first round of the German cup.

FCK coach Torsten Lieberknecht started the same team as in last Saturday’s league win against Schalke but had to leave a sextet at home due to injuries and illness.

The Red Devils got off to a quick start, with newcomer Fabian Kunze scoring the 1-0 in the 11th minute.

Two other newcomers teamed up to score the 2-0 only four minutes later. Semih Sahin chipped a ball into the box to Mahir Emreli who scored with a left-footer.

Another newcomer got into the act when Kim Ji-Soo scored the 3-0 in the 24th minute, when he headed the ball into the net off a center from Marlon Ritter.

In the 34th minute, the Kaiserslautern captain sent another center into the box, which Daniel Hanslik converted with his head for the 4-0.

Things did not get better for the fifth division team in the second half. Three minutes in, Ritter scored the 5-0 himself, taking a pass from Mika Hass and netting the ball with his right foot.

Tobias Raschl stole the ball from Eintracht keeper Liam Brenn and shot the ball into the empty goal for the 6-0 in the 71st minute.

Kaiserslautern got its seventh goal of the game in the 90th minute when Richmond Tachie converted a header off a center from defender Florian Kleinhansl.

The Red Devils will know who they face in the second round of the cup when the matches are drawn in Dortmund on Aug. 31.

They play their next league game on Friday at 6:30 p.m. in Elversberg and are back home on the Betzenberg on Aug. 31, for a match against SV Darmstadt 98.
