An ominous sign with a spooky house and yellow witches on broomsticks reminds people that April 30 is Witches Night.

The Night of the Witches is upon us. Prepare for pranks and mischief on Wednesday night, the eve of Germany’s May 1 Labor Day holiday.

Traditional antics include toilet papering cars, egging mailboxes and ringing doorbells in the middle of the night. In past Witches Nights, police have reported the removal of drain covers on the streets and ruckuses involving alcohol.

Witches Night is known as Walpurgis Night, when it is believed that witches came together to celebrate the arrival of spring.
