The collection of discarded Christmas trees begins today in Kaiserslautern and will continue until Jan. 24, according to a statement from the city.

Since the trees will be recycled, they must be decoration-free. Trees will be collected at the same time as organic waste bins and must be placed for pick-up by 7 a.m. at the latest. The collection schedule can be found at www.stadtbildpflege-kl.de.

Tree collections for villages in the county of Kaiserslautern began last Wednesday and runs through Jan. 28. For the schedule, go to www.kaiserslautern-kreis.de. Look under waste management and then news.
