The Billigheimer Purzelmarkt gets its name from the word “purzeln,” which means “to tumble” or “somersault” in German. The festival is named after the traditional folk games and competitions that feature prominently during the event, especially the playful and lively somersault contests. (Billgheimer Purzelmarkt)
