Kaiserslautern won the first game of the 2024/25 season 2-1 in Ulm ()
The Red Devils won their season opener on the road Sunday, beating newcomer SSV Ulm 2-1 on the road.
After a scoreless first half, the hosts took the lead three minutes into the second. Felix Heigel scored Ulm’s first second division goal in 23 years with a left-footer past FCK keeper Julian Kral.
Boris Tomiak scored the equalizer in the 77th minute on a penalty after Daniel Hanslik was fouled just inside the box.
Aaron Opoku netted the game-winner in the 83rd minute with a right-footer, and the defense held on for the victory.
After the first weekend of play, Kaiserslautern is in a three-way tie for sixth, with Schalke 04 leading the table.
Next up for the Red Devils is Fürth, who come to Fritz Walter Stadium on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. match.
