The Kaiserslautern Pikes are set to launch their 2024 regionals American football season at home on Saturday, taking on the Mainz Golden Eagles at the Schulzentrum Süd.

Kick-off is scheduled for 3:30 p:.m., with gates opening at 1 p.m.

The Pikes, named after the fish in Kaiserslautern’s coat of arms, will play their first of two consecutive home games in the regional league, where they face not only Mainz but also the Bad Homburg Sentinels in the following weeks.

The league comprises teams including Marburg Mercenaries, Kassel Titans, and the newly promoted Pirmasens Praetorians among others.

In addition to league play, there’s a brewing rivalry with the Praetorians, who are working to move their derby game against the Pikes to the larger Framas-Stadion, capable of holding nearly 10,000 spectators, according to local newspaper The Rheinpfalz.
