Motorcyclist slightly injured in autobahn crash


A motorcyclist was slightly injured Tuesday after crashing while exiting at the Winnweiler junction on autobahn A 63.

A 41-year-old motorcyclist was injured in an accident Tuesday morning after he lost control of his BMW on autobahn A 63. Heading in the direction of Kaiserslautern, the motorcyclist crashed as he was exiting at the Winnweiler junction. He lost control of the BMW and fell more than 60 feet across the road and ended up another 30 feet further in soft grass on the edge of the exit, according to local police. Miraculously, the biker was only slightly injured. Besides regular rescue services, a rescue helicopter and an emergency doctor were deployed to the accident site. A U.S. military police patrol was also on the scene. The motorcyclist was taken by ambulance to the Westpfalz hospital.
