As “Witches’ Night” approaches, Kaiserslautern police cautioned residents of possible pranks and mischief late into the night on Tuesday.

Every year, this night sees a surge in playful antics, prompting officials to warn participants to respect legal boundaries to avoid crossing into criminal activity or public nuisances, according to a Westpfalz Police statement Monday.

Historically, “Witches’ Night” (also known as Walpurgis Night) is believed to be the night when witches gather to celebrate the arrival of spring and engage in supernatural happenings. This legend has evolved over the centuries, transforming into a modern tradition where communities, especially the youth, play pranks like wrapping trees in toilet paper, ringing doorbells, or playfully decorating their neighbors’ properties.
