Police are searching for two children who set off fireworks inside a multi-family residential building, causing significant disruption and damage late Thursday evening in the Asternweg, Westpfalz Police said.

The young duo ignited several firecrackers in the hallway and threw them through an open window, as well as deploying a “firework battery” with multiple rockets in the entrance area of the building, police said in a statement.

The incident resulted in damage to carpets and the ceiling of the building’s stairwell. The smoke from the fireworks also triggered the building’s fire alarms.

Eyewitness descriptions suggest one of the boys is approximately 8 years old, around 4’11, with medium-length blond hair, wearing short blue pants, a white sports jersey, and orange soccer shoes.

The older child is believed to be about 11 years old and roughly 5’3, with a stocky build, dressed in a black hoodie and blue jeans.

Westpfalz Police are taking tips via 0631 369-2150.
