Caryn Currie was selected as the 2024 DODEA Principal of the Year (DODEA Europe)

Caryn Currie of Ramstein Intermediate School is the 2024 principal of the year for Defense Department schools in Europe.

Currie has worked for DODEA for more than 27 years as a teacher, assistant principal, and in other leadership roles at elementary schools across the America and Europe regions.

“Her unwavering dedication to her profession is evident through the countless hours she has spent mentoring and guiding her colleagues, as well as her students,” Michelle Howard-Brahaney, DODEA-Europe director for student excellence, said in a statement Wednesday. “Caryn’s remarkable leadership qualities and her ability to inspire and motivate others have made her a role model for many within the DODEA community.”

Caryn Currie stood out this year as a mentor by guiding assistant principals into the top jobs at other schools, DODEA said.

Principals are first nominated by peers, employees, parents, students or community members. One of the regional awardees will be selected as the DODEA principal of the year.
