An armed man in military attire triggered alarms at a skatepark in Mehligen around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Westpfalz Police reported.

Witnesses reported the man loitering before escaping on a motor scooter before a police patrol arrived.

Early findings indicate the weapon may have been a blank firing pistol, potentially unloaded, police reported. The man’s motive and mental state are unknown, police said.

The man is described as roughly 5’11’‘ to 6 feet tall, with short blond hair and a nose piercing, authorities said. Police are asking the public for any leads via 0631-369-2150.
