A 53-year-old man died Wednesday after being found severely injured on the sidewalk of Kaiserstrasse, Westpfalz police said.

The unnamed man was found at about 10 p.m. and died after emergency responders transported him to the hospital. The road runs through the Einsiedlerhof neighborhood as well as Kindsbach. Police did not say exactly where the man was found.

Kaiserslautern criminal investigators are attempting to determine whether foul play was involved. An autopsy has been scheduled, the Kaiserslautern prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
