Aschaffenburg, Germany, sometime in 1950: Master Sgt. William F. Garland, of Headquarters Company, 18th Infantry Regiment, his wife, Helen, and their three daughters, Glenda Lee, 7, Billie Joe, 6, and Sandra Elizabeth, 3, enjoy a quiet evening (in the presence of a Stars and Stripes photographer) in their brand new living room. The Garland’s apartment is one of the 156 newly constructed apartment units for servicemembers and their family in Aschaffenburg.
