Sasebo, Japan, Jan. 6, 2004: Fire engines from about 30 Sasebo City Fire Department detachments on Tuesday gathered near the Albuquerque Bridge while personnel from each unit aimed hose nozzles firing continuous, powerful streams of water, creating massive arches streaming through the air and falling into the canal that flows under the bridge.

An estimated crowd of between 1,500 and 2,000 people gathered on the bridge, and lined both sides of the street on the downtown side of the suspended footbridge, to see the spectacle. Earlier in the afternoon, they viewed the annual parade spotlighting firefighters in Sasebo City, those at Sasebo Naval Base and the continuing cooperative relationship between the two emergency response entities.
