Wheelus Field, Libya, August, 1955: Pilots gather around the scoreboard during the first annual U.S. Air Forces in Europe gunnery meet. The event was run in three phases: Air-to-air and air-to-ground firing; special weapons; and rocket competition. Each team of six planes was allowed 5,000 pounds of logistic equipment and 25 supporting personnel.
