A boat floats on a river

(Kim Ki Sam/Stars and Stripes)

Da Nang, South Vietnam, Aug. 15, 1968: On assignment in Da Nang for the ceremony marking the 11th anniversary of the Army of the Republic of Vietnam’s I Corps at which President Nguyen Van Thieu would speak, Stars and Stripes photographer Kim Ki Sam decided to use some color film and shoot some scenes in and around Da Nang, including several river scenes as this one.

News photography at the time was still mostly shot in B&W, so finding color film in the Stars and Stripes’ photo archives is always a treat.
