Tokyo, Japan, 1974: John Honke delivers the paper to subscribers.

Most of the Stars and Stripes newspapers were hand delivered by newsboys such as John Honke to subscribers who lived in on-base government quarters or in adjacent American housing areas in 1974. Some 73 youngsters between the ages of 12 and 18 were employed as newsboys at all U.S. bases in Japan that year.
