(U.S. Army Signal Corps)
Tokyo, Japan, Nov. 1, 1956: Yukichi Ono (right), pressman, adjusts the printing machine setting while Kensuke Oizumi (left), pressman checks a Stars and Stripes Pacific edition newspaper coming from the printing machine at Hardy Barracks.
One of the archival holdings at the Stars and Stripes Pacific Archives is a photo album from the 1950s which holds many images of the paper’s staff and operations, including this one. Through careful digitization of these prints, Stars and Stripes archive staff ensures our history and the history of the U.S. military operations in the Pacific is preserved.
Stars and Stripes still prints at the Hardy Barracks today.
