Iraq, Oct. 19, 2003: Soldiers from the 270th Military Police Company of the California Army National Guard watch as members of the 789th Explosive Ordnance Disposal Company detonate an improvised explosive device found along a highway just south of Baghdad International Airport. The IED, a 155 mm artillery shell, was set up to explode near coalition highway traffic but was discovered before it could be triggered. Traffic was held up for hours in both directions as EOD uncovered and then destroyed the device.
