Di An Base, Vietnam, Oct. 14, 1968: An 1st Infantry Division soldier opens wide for his dental treatment. Three times a month Capt. and Dr. Earle Yeamans, the Big Red One’s traveling dentist, and his assistant Spc. 5 Richard Ackley, hoisted their 600-pound portable dentist’s office aboard a helicopter and headed for the boonies to pull teeth, fill cavities and give the infantrymen lessons on how to properly brush their teeth.
