Chitose Air Base, Japan, September 1957: Chitose Dependent School Principal Leonard Jones checks some registration cards as Mrs. Elmer W. Hester, wife of Capt. Hester, Hq. 4th Fighter-Day Wing, fills out the forms for her daughter, Mary Jo, and son, Charles D. With registrations completed, Chitose School was getting ready for an enrollment of about 130 pupils. Chitose school was one of the two schools for dependent children of personnel stationed at Chitose Air Base. Chitose taught grades kindergarten through eighth grade and was located on the air base itself.
