Bremerhaven, Germany, Oct. 1, 1958: Pvt. Elvis Presley, duffle bag on shoulder, signs an autograph for a lucky fan as he walks off the USS Randall. The singer was to be assigned to Company D, 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor (Patton), 3rd Armored Division. While stationed in Germany, Presley would meet Priscilla Beaulieu, the 14-year-old stepdaughter of U.S. Air Force officer Paul Beaulieu. They would marry in 1967

Presley died 46 years ago today, Aug. 16, 1977.
