Toho Studio, Tokyo, Japan, June 10, 1966: Monster maker Ryosaku Takayama checks Ragon monster’s head, with the monster Red King standing next to him, in the prop department on the set of the Japanese Ultraman television show. Takayama created many of the monster — also called kaiju — suits for Tsuburaya Productions. Before becoming part of the Ultraman team, Takayana also created Barugon — an ancient reptilian kaiju with an extended tongue, rainbow death ray, and saliva that could freeze on impact — who first appeared in Gamera vs. Barugon (1966).
