Yongsan, Seoul, South Korea, Oct. 5, 1980: Yi Chang U, a member of the Yongsan Fire Department, touches up the statue of Sparky the firehouse mascot in front of the Yongsan Fire Department in time for Fire Prevention Week. Fire Prevention Week was established in 1922 to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire, which burned Oct. 8-10, 1871. And, as in the past, military and civilian communities will join in the effort to prevent fires. In 2022 Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 9-15.
