South Vietnam, April 9, 1968: Spc. 4 Granson Smith of Chicago — just arrived in country with the 6th Battalion, 31st Infantry, 9th Infantry Division troops — plays with a dog as he waits for his unit to move out of the airport onto their next destination. The pup was brought to South Vietnam by its owner, Lt. Regis Milan of Levittown, Pa., who carried the canine in his suitcase from Fort Lewis, Wash.
