Frankfurt, Germany, June 1948: Lana Turner and her new husband, tin-plate heir Henry (Bob) Topping, are being assisted by an American military official at the Frankfurt train station. The couple started their tour of the EC after two days of an off-again, on-again routine that kept reporters, photographers and fans running from Rhein-Main Airport to Frankfurt’s railroad station and back. Turner was scheduled to spend 10 days enteraining U.S. troops througout the zone and Berlin, but she confessed she didn’t know how. “Heaven only knows — just get out and say hello, I guess,” she answered when asked what her act would be.
