Tokyo, April 1974: Actress Gina Lollobrigida is surrounded by flowers and photographers during a Tokyo International Airport press conference promoting a book of her own photos, “Italia Mia.” While collecting and editing material for the book took all of three years, perhaps the most difficult part of the project was working among celebrity-conscious crowds. “While I was shooting for the book I had to disguise myself,” she said. “I put on hippie clothes, big glasses and stuck plum pits in my jaws so I wouldn’t be recognized.”
