Mogadishu, Somalia, June 1993: Chief Warrant Officer 2 Dean A. Mitt, a UH-60 Black Hawk pilot, practices his steer-roping technique on a slow day in Mogadishu. The “horse” was made from a 50-gallon drum mounted on a wooden frame, and the skull comes from a local cow. Mott, from Rock Springs, Wyo., was an active member of the Amateur Rodeo Club at Fort Campbell, Ky., where he was stationed when he was deployed to Somalia.
