Ramstein Air Base, West Germany, August 1988: Stunned spectators walk away from the scene of a deadly accident during the final performance of the Flugtag ‘88 air show. Three Italian Air Force jets from the precision-flying team Frecce Tricolori collided in midair, sending one of the jets into the crowd of nearly 300,000 spectators and resulting in 70 deaths.
