A blaze that burned for 12 hours aboard a U.S. Navy vessel anchored off southeastern Okinawa was extinguished at 4 a.m. Thursday, according to U.S. 7th Fleet.

The cause of the fire on the USS New Orleans, an amphibious transport dock ship, is under investigation, the fleet said in a statement issued around 6 a.m. Thursday.

Two sailors were treated for minor injuries, according to the statement.

The New Orleans’ crew will remain aboard the vessel, the fleet said.
