The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Tahoma on Tuesday offloaded nearly 10,000 pounds of cocaine worth $73.7 million at Port Everglades, Fla., according to a service press release.

Tahoma seized the illicit drugs from a June 24 interdiction about 120 miles northwest of Ecuador, per the release.

“They executed this interdiction with precision and professionalism,” said Tahoma’s commanding officer, Cmdr. Nolan Cuevas, according to the release. “Behind every successful deployment is a dedicated team of logistics and support personnel.

Aside from Tahoma’s crew, interdiction operations were assisted by personnel from the Coast Guard’s Pacific Area Tactical Law Enforcement Team, Maritime Safety & Security Team Houston, Southwest District and by personnel from Joint Interagency Task Force-South.

Tahoma is a Famous-class medium endurance cutter. Its homeport is in Newport, R.I.
