WIESBADEN, Germany — A person was found dead Friday in one of the primary residential communities for U.S. military families in Wiesbaden.
Military police and local authorities were called to the scene Friday morning near Wiesbaden Elementary School, according to witnesses.
The body was discovered in U.S. Army Garrison Wiesbaden’s Hainerberg housing area, which is primarily a community of junior enlisted soldiers and their families who live in walk-up apartment buildings.
An investigation is underway involving the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division as well as military and local police, said Thomas Hamilton, a CID spokesman in Europe.
“Current findings suggest that this incident was not a deliberate act against the person,” Hamilton said. “There is no known risk to community safety.”
Photos posted on social media showed a white vehicle at the scene with the word “cheater” spray-painted on it. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the vehicle was connected to the death.
The Wiesbaden military community includes the Army’s headquarters in Europe and thousands of service members, civilians and family members.
