A North Dakota National Guard airman was killed in a motorcycle accident Tuesday.

Master Sgt. Brandon Sola, 36, died in the accident on I-95 near West Fargo, N.D.

Sola, a Velva, N.D., native, has been a member of the North Dakota Air National Guard’s 119th Wing, nicknamed the “Happy Hooligans,” since 2003.

“We will always remember Brandon’s commitment to the National Guard and to law enforcement.,” said Maj. Gen. Al Dohrmann, North Dakota adjutant general, in a news release. “We offer our sincere condolences to his family, friends and fellow Airmen during this tragic time.”

Sola worked full-time as chief of police in Carrington, N.D.

Carrington Mayor Tom Erdmann said Sola was “an enthusiastic and welcomed leader” in his community.

“Brandon worked each and every day for the safety of our community. Together we mourn his death and our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends,” Erdmann said.
