3rd Infantry Division, 1st Armored units deploying to Europe; 101st Airborne aviators flying to Middle East

A mix of U.S. Army units will deploy to Europe this winter, taking up position in Poland and other areas as part of a troop rotation focused on shoring up NATO’s eastern flank, the service announced.

Steinbeck answered "All wars are hopeless, but all of the wars have been necessary and this one is also necessary." Steinbeck's son, John, was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965 and was in country at the time of his father's visit.
