YOKOTA AIR BASE, Japan — Fitness guru Tony Horton is showing Pacific troops and their families what it takes to get into shape.
Horton brought the same high-octane workout from his “P90X” videos to Yokota’s Samurai Fitness Center on Wednesday for two classes, each drawing crowds of about 100 people. Some participated and worked up a sweat. Others just watched as Horton led participants through P90X program’s 12 exercises, which target various muscle groups and promises a “regular to ripped” body in 90 days.
“It really makes you work out all the muscles,” said military spouse Janette McCoy, who follows the program. McCoy said working out with Horton gives people an added incentive not to cheat and to do the exercises correctly.
A show of hands revealed plenty of loyal P90X followers.
After working out to P90X videos for one to two hours a day, six days a week for the past two months, Jessica Hanna was thrilled to work out with Horton in person.
“I do P90X at home with my girls,” Hanna said proudly after enjoying the workout with her 8-year-old daughter Aryn.
