Schweinfurt ends year with 2-game win streak
SCHWEINFURT, Germany - Logan Mansfield passed for two touchdowns and ran for another Saturday as the Schweinfurt Razorbacks rallied from an 8-6 halftime hole and beat the visiting Vicenza Cougars 28-8.
Mansfield was five-of-13 for 122 yards through the air, connecting with Lajuarren Burks and Jake Long for his TD passes. He ran the ball 15 times for a game-high 119 yards and a touchdown.
Burks, who in addition to rushing 15 times for 79 yards, intercepted a Vicenza pass. He added a second TD on the ground.
Vicenza led 8-6 at halftime on the strength of Terrell Gandy’s TD reception and Kenny Coulter’s two-point conversion run. Gandy led all Vicenza rushers with 75 yards on 11 carries in addition to hauling in the 10-yard TD pass.
The game was all Razorbacks in the second half, however.
“The guys came back,” Schweinfurt coach Jesse Woods said in a Saturday night telephone call.
The non-conference game between Division II schools was the last of the season for both. Vicenza closed out its 2012 campaign 1-4-1; Schweinfurt, in just its second year of existence, finished 3-3 and on a two-game winning streak.
