Wrestling, marskmanshipVilseck, Ramstein, Stuttgart at Hohenfels Saturday Ansbach, Vicenza, Vilseck at Hohenfels Saturday Hohenfels is the capital of the DODDS-Europe non-hoops universe this weekend, hosting four-school meets in both wrestling and marksmanship. The Tiger grapplers have been outnumbered and outscored by the larger likes of Stuttgart, Vilseck, Wiesbaden and Naples this season. But Hohenfels remains highly competitive on the mats. Josh Bush (106 pounds), Seth Rhoades (132) and Connor Gibson (220) earned weight-class wins in Saturday’s seven-team meet at Vicenza. This weekend’s meet sees the Tigers playing the underdog again as Division I schools Ramstein, Stuttgart and Vilseck pile into Hohenfels. That same day, the school’s marksmanship team enjoyed its finest performance of the season in a remote meet. The Tigers claimed victory with 1,342 points, a full 53 points higher than their previous season best, while ending Vilseck’s season-long streak of first-place finishes. Vilseck will look to regain its top status this weekend alongside fellow visitors Ansbach and Vicenza.

Girls basketballBitburg at Black Forest Academy Friday and Saturday On paper, it doesn’t get much better than this: a rematch of the previous year’s championship game between the last two undefeated teams in the division. In practice, a matchup between the Bitburg Barons and BFA Falcons almost always lives up to any level of pregame expectations. That includes last year’s regular-season split, which featured a 31-27 Bitburg win immediately followed by a 41-36 BFA triumph, as well as Bitburg’s gritty 34-27 win in the 2015 Division II European title game. Expect more of the same from the two deep, defensive-minded programs this weekend. Both teams have been unequivocally dominant this season in building identical 6-0 marks. Bitburg has outscored its opponents 264-67 on the year; BFA’s margin is 264-63.
