A 21-year-old soldier who died from injuries suffered in Afghanistan has been identified by the Defense Department as Spc. James A. Justice.

Justice, a member of the 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, died Friday at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany. He was wounded Aug. 14 by enemy smalls-arms fire in eastern Wardak province, according to a Defense Department release.

Justice, of Grover, N.C., was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, based in Vicenza, Italy.

A memorial service for Justice has not been announced.

The 173rd is based in Vicenza and commands subordinate units in both Italy and Germany.
