We’re sure you have a lot planned this Father’s Day weekend, but make sure you squeeze in a volksmarch somewhere. Get some fresh air, exercise and spend some quality time with your loved ones. We all love to cook out on the grill. At a volksmarch, someone else does the cooking and cleaning up. You can concentrate on the important part — eating!

Today’s walk in Ehnen, Luxembourg, sounds interesting. Not only is the start hall at the wine museum, today is the start of the area’s Open Wine Cellars Weekend! It looks as if there will be unlimited opportunities for fun in Ehnen this weekend.

The walk in Mühlacker, Germany, is a Stammtisch event for the Stuttgart German-American Wandering Club. The walk starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, so you can sleep in a little. Sunday, the doors open for the early birds at 6 a.m. The prize is a B-medal truck for 3 euros.

This is also the weekend for the Bad Kreuznach volksmarch. We thoroughly enjoyed this nice walk through the countryside a couple of years ago, and there were nice cafes along the river to stop at for lunch. The town has an unusual old bridge with houses built on it. If you plan to spend the night, don’t get a hotel too close to the bridge, because there is a public park next to it and the local kids hang out there until the wee hours.

This weekend’s walk in Kordell will be convenient for those in the Eifel region of Germany. This is a Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning event for IVV credit only.

This year, the walk in Reichenbach is Sunday only.

Fliers are coming in for some great summer walks. Be sure to add these events to your walking agenda. We’ll provide more details soon.
