Nuremberg becomes an epicenter of mountain bike racing Sept. 1-2 as the 6th edition of the Red Bull District Ride returns to the city following a three-year pause. Some of the world’s best riders show off their gravity-defying tricks on a course set up directly in the Old Town. Fans pack the streets to catch sight of the riders performing stunts on five “districts.” The race makes up a part of the Freeride Mountain Bike World Tour Diamond Series which includes the disciplines of Big Air, Big Mountain, Dirt Jump and Slopestyle. The Nuremberg race is a Slopestyle competition. The event begins at 6:15 p.m. Sept. 1 with the Best Trick Contest; this lasts about one hour and is followed by the awards ceremony. The action continues from 3:15 p.m. Sept. 2 with two final runs. The winners of both the Red Bull District Ride and the FMB Diamond Series will be honored directly thereafter.
