VICENZA, Italy — A Vicenza-based soldier was killed on Saturday in an off-post motorcycle accident, according to the garrison.

The soldier was not identified, and other information about the death was unavailable.

U.S. Army Garrison Vicenza announced the death on its website about 11 a.m. Saturday with a post from Col. Robert Menist, garrison commander.

"Please be respectful of the soldier’s family and friends and refrain from discussions or speculation while next of kin notifications are made in the U.S. and the investigation is completed," Menist's post said.

A memorial service was being scheduled, the post said.
