KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Police in Rhineland-Pfalz warned dog owners Wednesday to be on the lookout for possibly poisoned meatballs in the Kaiserslautern suburb of Katzweiler.

At least two dog owners reported their hounds had found meatballs filled with a blue substance that one veterinarian suspected was rat poison. The suspect food was found Tuesday morning on a path extending from Muehleckerstasse. Katzweiler is north of Kaiserslautern.

The police are urging owners to keep their dogs on the leash and to take them to the vet if there is any chance they have eaten anything suspicious.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 0631-369-2150.
