KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany — Staff members and students at Ramstein High School are mourning the loss of 2008 graduate Justin Curnutt.

Justin, 20, was killed in a single-car accident in Phoenix on Dec. 1, according to his father, Air Force Senior Master Sgt. George Curnutt.

He was the vice president of his senior class at Ramstein and lived in Kirchenarnbach, Germany, for four years.

RHS history teacher Suzanne Volke remembered Justin as a fun-loving, kind-hearted kid who “made us laugh at ourselves and at high school and the world. He was generous with his time, and often helped other students who were in dire straits by referring them to adults who could help them more than he could,” she said in an e-mail. “I am devastated that he is gone.”

Justin was working as a certified nurses’ assistant at an Arizona rehabilitation center at the time of his death, according to his father.

The family was to hold a small memorial service for Justin at Luke Air Force Base in Arizona on Friday.

Donations in his name can be made to Stand Up For Kids (www.standupforkids.org) or the American Lung Association (www.lungusa.org).
