Mannheim-based soldier killed in Afghanistan

MANNHEIM, Germany — A Mannheim-based soldier was killed in action in Afghanistan on Thursday, according to the Department of Defense.
Staff Sgt. Eric S. Trueblood, 27, of Alameda, Calif., died in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, of wounds received when enemy forces attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device, a DOD news release stated.
Trueblood was assigned to the 391st Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 16th Sustainment Brigade, Spinelli Barracks in Mannheim.
