Heidelberg Middle School students work on a mural that the school plans to dedicate to Heidelberg and surrounding communities at a ceremony Friday at 4 p.m. at Eppelheim City Hall. Students from the middle school, with help from Heidelberg High School and Patrick Henry Elementary School students, finished the mural in three days. All three schools will close at the end of this school year as part of military transformation in Europe. “As we are all heading out in transition from the Heidelberg area, we wanted to leave a lasting gift of our presence here,” said Dora Olivares, an HMS teacher and artist from New Mexico who conceived the project. The mural is located in the center of Eppelheim, near city hall.
